Basic Rights Workshop with Mr. Bob Belmont

Please join us for our annual basic rights workshop presented by the Director of Special Services, Mr. Bob Belmont. Also, joining us for this workshop is Attorney Anthony H. Gemma who will also be presenting a program on special education and the law. This workshop will provide families with an introduction to their rights under IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, Massachusetts Special Education Law and No Child Left Behind (NCLB).

Susan Senator, Author of Making Peace with Autism

Flaherty Elementary School , Lakeside Drive , 7:00 – 9:00 pm

Susan Senator is a writer, activist and the mother of three boys. Her oldest son was diagnosed with autism at the age of three. Ms. Senator is the author of Making Peace with Autism: One Family's Story of Struggle, Discovery, and Unexpected Gifts is about how her family has learned to be a family in spite of autism, moving beyond grief in the face of an acute challenge.

Transition Planning

Please join us for a presentation from the Federation for Children with Special Needs on Transition Planning: the Next Step for Youth 14-22. This workshop will address the issues related to designing the right curriculum and supports throughout high school so that the student will be on the right track for becoming self-sufficient and living independently after graduation.
