Celebrating Strengths of Children With Disabilities

Thayer Public Library , 798 Washington Street 7:00 – 9:00 PM

Featuring Gina Gallagher and Patricia Konjoian, authors of

“Shut Up About Your Perfect Kid”

In collaboration with B.A.N.D.S. (Braintree Autism Network for Our Daughters and Sons) and the Friends of Thayer Public Library we will be hosting Gina Gallagher and Patricia Konjoian, authors of “Shut Up About Your Perfect Kid”.  Instead of emphasizing the problems they face, the authors celebrate the strengths of children with disabilities and their families.  This book illustrates the power of humor as a tool for coping, offers practical advice and inspiration for parents and families raising children with disabilities.

MCAS Workshop

Highlands Elementary School, 144 Wildwood Ave. 7:00 – 9:00 PM

Federal laws governing Title I, Goals 2000 and Special Education all require participation by virtually all students in statewide assessments.  In Massachusetts, state’s Education Reform Act of 1993 also requires that students with disabilities be assessed by MCAS.  A representative from the Federation for Children with Special Needs will be hosting this workshop and will provide an overview of what MCAS means for special needs students.

Reservations for this workshop is required in order for the representative to be able to provide handouts to all that attend.

For more information or directions to the workshop, please contact

Barbara Tennison at 781-843-3954
